what is voodoo? (final paper intro)

What is Voodoo?

Have you ever wondered why the peoples of the Caribbean have such a dense belief in mysticism? Well I for one have, at least within the region of Suriname. The people of Suriname have a staunch belief in this system of magic and what not because of its historical significance to them, as well as simply following the traditions of there ancestors. Now the real question is, do these mystical practices they believe in truly work and have some merit? Or are they simply folk tales and superstition that they support just to keep the belief alive? Because while most people believe voodoo and mysticism to be a waste of time, a lot of Suriname’s people have found a great belief in it and use it for many different things.

first, heres some info on Guadeloupe,  Guadeloupe is an overseas region of France comprised of a cluster of islands in the Lesser Antilles in the eastern Caribbean Sea. The island group is north of Dominica and south-east of Montserrat, forming the southern edge of the Leeward Islands. cotton candy and little cog burt compare and contrast (post 4)

in this analysis I will be uncovering the similarities, and differences between the Caribbean stories of  Little Cog-Burt , and  Cotton Candy. Little Cog-Burt  By: Phyllis Stand Allfrey &  Cotton Candy  By: Dora Alonso. these two stories I think are very similar, and also very different in many ways. let me explain some reasons why they are similar. these Two main Characters in  Little Cog-Burt:  Little Cog-Burt, &  Cotton Candy: Lola.  these two main characters in the stories are viewed upon as undermined individuals through their society in the given time and place. in my personal Opinion, Little Cog-Burt  and Cotton Candy are both stories that are limited to a certain audience. this implies that the two stories are not for the every-day Joe to read for entertainment.
